Technical Notes
Mother's residence birth geographies (state or county) include babies born in Hawaii to mothers who were residents of Hawaii.

In 2014, the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) changed the method of calculating gestational age from date of last menstrual period (LMP) to obstetric estimate (OE). As a result, prenatal care data before 2014 cannot be directly compared to data from 2014 forward.

In accordance with data use restrictions of NCHS, counts of fewer than 9 are suppressed in the source tables. This may affect counts in the "early preterm" and "late/post-term" categories in smaller counties, and the missing data in these categories may result in an inability to calculate rates for certain years. Where possible, multiple year averages were used to estimate missing data and calculate rates. N/R: Not reportable due to suppression of data.
