Definitions: Adverse Childhood Experiences, or "ACEs" are stressful or traumatic experiences that disrupt the safe, nurturing environments that children need to thrive.These childhood adversities aren't one-time events, but are chronic sources of stress including things like physical or sexual abuse, neglect, addiction or mental illness in the home and domestic violence.
