Definitions: Data represent the percentage of students from 3rd to 8th grade who achieved Proficient or Advanced TCAP score in Reading and Language during a school year. The Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) is the standardized testing program used in public school in Tennessee. This achievement test is timed, multiple choice assessment that measures skills in reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.

Data Source: The TCAP scores and the number of valid tests by school district were collected from the Tennessee Department of Education. Kids count division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth converted district level data to county level using basic statistical methods.

Footnotes: NA = TCAP scores for number of valid tests less than 10 are not available.
State special schools are not included in county level data but included in state level data. From 2016-17 the TCAP tests were replaced by TNReady tests.
Due to the suspension of testing in grade 3-8 no accountability determinations were made for 2015-16
school year.
