Definitions: Child population is the total resident population under age 18 in each geographical area, including dependents of Armed Forces personnel stationed in the area. Population data is displayed by race and ethnicity. Hispanic or Latino children are counted as an ethnicity, not a race, and may be of any race. Percents compare children under 18 of each race or ethnicity to the total number of children under 18 in that geographical area.

Data Source: U.S. Census American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates

Footnotes: There is no agreement about the specific terminology or the number of categories that should be used to classify race and ethnicity.  Various sources use different titles to report racial characteristics.  Persons within each race of ethnicity are encouraged to re-title or refer to the data in a manner which reflects their preferences. This population data is estimated based on samples by the U.S. Bureau of the Census for each year.  Numbers and rates may differ from an earlier Oklahoma KIDS COUNT Factbook due to the availability of updated Census population estimates.
