Definitions: Percent of all families with the presence of related children under 18 living below the poverty level in the past 12 months.

Data Source: U.S. Census Bureau, 5-year American Community Survey Estimates.

Footnotes: Poverty status is determined by the inflation-adjusted income of a household and by the number of adults and children living in a household. For example, the poverty threshold in 2011 for a family with two adults and two children was $22,811. Poverty status is not determined for people living in group quarters or for unrelated individuals under age 15 (such as foster children).
