Data Provided By

Definitions: Proportion of all families with own children under 18 in which the parents 16 years old and over are in the labor force and at least one of them is unemployed.

Data Source: U.S. Census Bureau, 5-year American Community Survey Estimates, processed by the Kentucky State Data Center.

Footnotes: Civilians are classified as "unemployed" if they were neither "at work" nor "with a job but not at work" during the reference week (calendar week preceding the date on which the respondents completed their questionnaires or were interviewed), and were actively looking for work during the last 4 weeks, and were available to start a job. Also included as "unemployed" are civilians who did not work at all during the reference week, were waiting to be called back to a job from which they had been laid off, and were available for work except for temporary illness.
