Definitions: Numerator: Unduplicated count of children with a substantiated incident of child abuse and/or neglect. Denominator: Number of children less than age 18. Rate calculation: 1,000 times the numerator divided by the denominator.

Data Source: Child Protective Services Data System, Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Family and Children Services.

Footnotes: If there is substantial credible evidence that abuse or neglect has occurred, a report is determined to be substantiated. LNE (low number event) indicates that there were 4 or fewer events on which rates would be based.
