Definitions: The average number of children under age 18 receiving Temporary Family Assistance (TFA) benefits for the designated year in a town or county within Connecticut. Eligible children include those in families where the parent/s are enrolled in the employment focused, time limited assistance program (Jobs First); have received an extension from the Jobs First program; or are exempt from the Jobs First program. Exemption can be obtained if the adult is a parent who is incapacitated, is taking care of an incapacitated family member, or is a non-parent caregiver who does not receive assistance. Children under 19 are eligible themselves to receive TFA as long as they are still in high school.

Data Source: Connecticut Department of Social Services, Bureau of Assistance Programs, unpublished data, SFYs 2009, 2010, & 2013

Youth between 18 and 19 years of age are not included in these TFA child participation numbers.

LNE = Low Number Event for towns in which fewer than five incidents occurred are not calculated because of the unreliability of small numbers.
