The average number of children under age 18 receiving Temporary Family Assistance (TFA) benefits for the designated year in a town or county within Connecticut. Eligible children include those in families where the parent/s are enrolled in the employment focused, time limited assistance program (Jobs First); have received an extension from the Jobs First program; or are exempt from the Jobs First program. Exemption can be obtained if the adult is a parent who is incapacitated, is taking care of an incapacitated family member, or is a non-parent caregiver who does not receive assistance. Children under 19 are eligible themselves to receive TFA as long as they are still in high school.
Connecticut Department of Social Services, Bureau of Assistance Programs, unpublished data, SFYs 2009, 2010, & 2013
Youth between 18 and 19 years of age are not included in these TFA child participation numbers.
LNE = Low Number Event for towns in which fewer than five incidents occurred are not calculated because of the unreliability of small numbers.
