Definitions: This measure shows the proportion of adults who reported that there was a time in the past 12 months when they needed to see a doctor but could not because of cost. This measure was calculated by the National Center for Health Statistics using data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), a random-digit dial survey. BRFSS data are representative of the total non-institutionalized U.S. population over 18 years of age living in households with a land-line telephone. Seven years of data are used to generate more stable estimates.
