Definitions: Students receiving Special Education Services are students ages 3 to 21 covered by the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Disability categories include mental retardation, orthopedic impairment, hearing impairment, deafness, deaf-blind, speech/language, emotional disturbance, other health impairment, multiple disabilities, developmental delay, autism, and traumatic brain injury.
