Definitions:

Current Cigarette Use: Students who had smoked cigarettes on at least 1 day during the 30 days before the survey

Percent: Percent of all respondents (grades 9 to 12)

Data Source:

Data from the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance, from the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Footnotes:

This is a statistic based on survey data, the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). The percent is based on weighted counts in both the numerator and denominator.  Weighted counts are counts of respondents multiplied by a factor to render an estimate of the number of the total population who would respond in the same manner. The respondents for YRBS data are public high-school students in grades 9-12.

Data are based on a sample and are subject to sampling variability. For information on the confidence interval for these data, please contact the KIDS COUNT project at MassBudget.
