Why This Indicator Matters
We need to be sure that future leaders have the skills required to tackle the problems of tomorrow. Future success in life is directly related to a person's breadth of knowledge and ability to think, learn and communicate. Education plays a primary role in equipping young people with the necessary skills, knowledge and experiences for achievement. School testing programs, such as math and reading assessments, are tools to measure student academic achievement. Just as we need many different gauges, windows and mirrors as drivers, education needs a dashboard approach to assessment to provide multiple ways of monitoring and improving.
