Definitions: Numerator: Number of cases of a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that have been diagnosed in youth, ages 15-19. Denominator: Number of youth ages 15-19. Rate calculation: 1,000 times the numerator divided by the denominator.

Footnotes: Sexually transmitted diseases include Chancroid, Chlamydia trachomatis, Gonorrhea, Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), Syphilis - Primary, Syphilis - Secondary, Syphilis - Early Latent, Syphilis - Other, Syphilis – Congenital. LNE (low number event) indicates that there were 4 or fewer events on which rates would be based.
