Definitions: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). This program provides employment, training, and support services for clients such as transportation and child care, which are intended to promote self-sufficiency. The TANF Work Program (TWP) operates in all 82 counties of Mississippi with an emphasis on helping families within the context of job preparation. TANF is administered by the Division of Economic Assistance (DEA).
