Definitions: The percentage of the population in New Mexico over the age of 16 who are unemployed but actively looking for work. These data are average annual unemployment rates that are not seasonally adjusted.

Data Source: New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions: https://laser.state.nm.us/vosnet/Default.aspx.
These data and county-level data can be found also on the Bureau of Labor Statistics website: https://www.bls.gov/.

Footnotes: Seasonal adjustment is a statistical technique that attempts to measure and remove the influences of predictable seasonal patterns (e.g., changes in weather, harvests, major holidays, and school schedules) to reveal how employment and unemployment change from month to month.  As a general rule, the monthly employment and unemployment numbers reported in the news are seasonally adjusted data which can be useful when comparing several months of data.  Annual average estimates are calculated from the not-seasonally adjusted data series.
