Public school students with limited English proficiency in Louisiana

Definitions: Number - The number of public school students that have been identified as having limited proficiency in the English language.

Percent - The number of public school students that have been identified as having limited proficiency in the English language per 100 students enrolled in public school.
As defined by Title VII, Part E, Section 7501(8) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (Public Law 103-382), a student is considered to lack proficiency in English if the student has sufficient difficulty speaking, reading, writing, or understanding the English language and whose difficulties may deny such individual the opportunity to learn successfully in classrooms where the language of instruction is English or to participate fully in our society.
