Definitions: The number and percentage of children under the age of 18 who are living in poverty in New Mexico, statewide and by county.

Data Source: State-level data are 1-year estimates from U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey (ACS), Table S1701.
County-level data are 1-year estimates from Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE).
The U.S. Census recommends using ACS data for state-level poverty estimates and using SAIPE data for county-level poverty rates, when they are available: https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/saipe.html

Footnotes: New Mexico state-level data typically are from the American Community Survey 1-year estimates. As a result of COVID-19 data collection challenges, the 2020 New Mexico state-level data are 5-year estimates and not comparable to other years.
