Definitions: Preterm births is the percentage of births occurring before the 37th week of pregnancy. The data are reported by place of mother's residence, not place of infant's birth.
Data Source: Rhode Island Department of Health, Center for Health and Data Analysis, Maternal and Child Health Database.
Footnotes: NA: Percentages were not calculated for cities and towns with fewer than 500 births, because percentages with small denominators are statistically unreliable. The year indicated is the mid-year of a five-year period of data. The denominator is the total number of live births to Rhode Island residents during the 5 year period.
