Definitions: The number of children ages birth to 18 who are receiving supplemental security income (SSI) as of December of the year listed. The rate is the number per 1,000 children ages birth to 18 of the previous year.

Prior to 2004, data are for children ages birth to 17.

Footnotes: Data for Detroit, 2011-2018 were revised on 2/24/2020. An error in the methodology had led to some children being counted multiple times.
