Why This Indicator Matters
Children growing up in poverty ($25,750 for a family of four in 2019) are much more likely than their peers to experience stress and deprivation that hinders health, development and readiness for school, and other developmental outcomes.

Definitions: The number of children ages 0-17 who live below the poverty threshhold. The percent is based on the number of children ages 0-17 for whom poverty status was determined by SAIPE.
