Definitions:
Number - average annual number of live births weighing less than 2,500 grams (5.5 pounds) during the reporting period.
Percent - number of live births weighing less than 2,500 grams (5.5 pounds) per 100 live births during the reporting period.

Three years of data were aggregated, then averaged. For example, data for 2007–2009 reflects an average of data for 2007, 2008 and 2009.
LNE (Low Number Event) - Numbers are not reported when there were more than zero and fewer than five events during the reporting period. Rates based on
fewer than 20 events are not reported.
Note that "Total" data includes all racial and ethnic categories (not
just black and white) and thus may be larger than the sum of the two
racial categories presented here. Data for other racial and ethnic
groups were not reported due to the small number of events in most
parishes.
