Definitions:
Number - the average number of children served by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in a given state fiscal year (July 1-June 30).
Percent - the average number of children served by SNAP in a given state fiscal year (July 1-June 30) per 100 children ages 0-17 in the population.

Footnotes:
SNAP provides monthly benefits that help eligible low-income households buy food. Because SNAP data are based on state fiscal year averages, population estimates for two years were averaged to calculate a SNAP participation rate per 100 children.
