Definitions: Population ages 10 to 14.

Data Source: Population Division of the U.S. Census Bureau annual county resident population estimates for Michigan from Vintage 2021 estimates series.

U.S. Census Bureau, The American Community Survey 1-Year Estimates, provided by the Office of the State Demographer

Footnotes: Estimates are as of July 1st each year for the state of Michigan and all counties. These estimates represent a tabulation from the “blended base” for April 1, 2020 which integrates the results of the 2020 Census, the 2020 Demographic Analysis estimates, and the Vintage 2020 estimates series.

The U.S. Census Bureau annually releases population estimates for five-year age groups at the county level. The Census Bureau limits release of estimates by single year of age at the county level to a “by request only” basis due to concerns about the reliability of these estimates, especially when crossed by additional demographic characteristics. Users of the single-year-of-age county-level population estimates should carefully consider the limited reliability of these estimates.

For 2021 city populations, age groups were estimated by applying the single-year age distribution at the county level (sourced from Census BRO file) to the binned age groups at the city level. The city population totals were sourced from the ACS 2021 one-year estimates.
