Definitions: The number of youth (age 24 and younger) who are unsheltered, in an emergency shelter or transitional housing program, staying in a non-permanent housing arrangement ("couch surfing", etc.), or at imminent risk of homelessness, and who are without a parent/guardian

Data Source:

The annual Youth Count DC, also known as the Homeless Youth Census, which takes place over a week and a half in September of each year

Youth Count 2020 used different methodology (only counting young people who fit the federal HUD definition of homelessness rather than those who have no regular home but are couch surfing) so its results are omitted here to avoid a misleading year-to-year comparison.
