Why This Indicator Matters

Performance on standardized achievement tests is used as a measure of what students know, a predictor of their future success in education, and a measure of their school’s success in educating them. The SAT is a standardized test that is commonly used as a criteria for admission to a college or university in the United States. The SAT tests students’ English, reading, and writing skills, as well as their knowledge of mathematics. As of 2015, New Hampshire became one of nine schools across the nation to administer the test to all eleventh grade students during the school day, at no cost to students (NH DOE).
