Why This Indicator Matters

The Medicaid benefit package for children – Early, Periodic, Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) – is crucial and robust. States must provide comprehensive services and furnish all appropriate and medically necessary services needed to correct and improve health conditions. Medicaid benefits include but are not limited to: primary care, dental, vision and hearing coverage, as well as comprehensive screening, prevention, diagnosis and treatment services.
