Definitions: Poverty (County Level) is the estimated percentage of children under 18 years of age who live in families with incomes below 100% of the U.S. poverty threshold as defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.

Data Source: Data are based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE). 

Footnotes: The percent of children in poverty has been decreasing since the 2012 peak, at an average annual 1.07 percentage points. The current rate represents the percentage for calendar year 2018. The trend represents the average annual percent change for calendar years 2014–18.
