Definitions: Unduplicated counts of child abuse and neglect cases for which sufficient evidence exists. Rate is per 1,000 child population younger than age 18. Data are based on a calendar year.

Data Source: The Tennessee Department of Children's Services supplied case data. Population data were from the Office of Health Statistics, Division of Policy, Planning and Assessment, Tennessee Department of Health. The Kids Count division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth calculated the rates.

Footnotes: Year 2000 data is missing. Rates on 2018 are based on 2017 population.
