Definitions: The number and percent of children younger than age 18 who receive federally-funded food coupons under Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during a year. Estimates are based on monthly averages for a state fiscal year (July - June).

Data Source: The Tennessee Department of Human Services provided Families First figures. Population data were supplied by the Tennessee Department of Health, Office of Policy Planning and Assessment, Division of Health Statistics. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission of Children and Youth organized data and calculated rates.
