Definitions: This indicator represents the unduplicated count of children ages 0 through 18 who are recipients of SNAP. The Farm Bill passed in 2008 renamed the Food Stamp Program as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP is a uniform, nationwide entitlement program to supplement the nutritional needs of people whose income is at or below the poverty level. Households must meet eligibility requirements.  

The denominator for the percentage is the total child population ages 0 through 18 in respective geographic areas.
