Data represents the number and percent of births to unmarried mothers in each year. Incidences greater than 0 and less than 5 are not reported and are indicated with a NA or X.
The number of births for which the marital status of the mother is unknown increased sharply between 2010 and 2011, although the number of births for which information is missing remains under 1% of all births. Prior to 2011, births to unmarried mothers is calculated as a share of total births; for the years 2011 and after, the indicator is calculated as a share of births for which the marital status of the mother is known.
Data are from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
