Capacity of licensed child care centers in Louisiana
Capacity of licensed child care centers
Definitions:
Data Source:
Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, Bureau of Licensing, Baton Rouge, LA and Louisiana Department of Education, Baton Rouge, LA, rates based on population data provided by Puzzanchera, C., Sladky, A. and Kang, W. (2021). "Easy Access to Juvenile Populations: 1990-2020." Online. Available: https://www.ojjdp.gov/ojstatbb/ezapop/
Footnotes:
Capacity is determined by a facility’s physical characteristics and size. Because many centers do not operate at full capacity for various reasons (including quality, staffing difficulties, low demand, etc.), the actual number of children served in licensed settings is likely to be lower than the maximum capacity.
Note that June 2020 data reflects the capacity of open centers, and does not include the capacity of sites that have temporarily closed due to COVID-19.
Rates are calculated as the licensed capacity per 100 children ages 0-4 in each parish.
