Teen birth rate ages15-19 (5-year average)

Data Provided by:

Definitions: Births per 1,000 females ages 15-19.

Data Source: 1991-US Bureau of the Census; Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics. 1993 & 1994-Alaska Department of Labor; Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics. 1995,1997, and on-Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics.

Footnotes: Five years of data were combined to minimize the unreliability of measurement due to the small number of actual events. The reported values  are a rolling average across five years.  For example, we report the average value across the years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.

In the years 1991, 1993, and 1994 only the births to single teens were reported. Births to both single and married teens were reported after 1994. In 1991, births in Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough were combined.
