Definitions: Wisconsin's Earned Income Tax Credit benefits taxpayers who work, have children, are low- or middle-income. The amount of the credit depends on income and the number of children in a family. For more about the EITC, go to the Wisconsin Budget Project website.
The share of the population benefiting from the EITC represents the number of people in the families that receive the credit for a particular tax year, divided by population figures used by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
