Kids Count Data Center

Definitions: Rate reflects the number of public school students expelled from school per 1,000 net enrollment.

Data Source: Count and net enrollment data were supplied by the Tennessee Department of Education, Office of Research. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth converted district-level data to county level and computed rate.

Definitions: Total number of persons of Hispanic origin younger than 18 years of age, who reside in an area. All numbers are estimates, and cut across race. For example, a Caucasian or African American with Hispanic ethnicity is included in the counts.

Definitions: Number of young people under the age of 20 years who are committed to state custody during a given state fiscal year (July - June).

Data Source: Counts provided by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth organized the data.

Definitions: Number of children who die prior to reaching their first birthday per 1,000 live births. Data are for a given calendar year.

Definitions: Number of students who drop out of high school before graduating as a percent of their net enrollment at 9th grade. Data are for a school year.

Data Source: Dropout and net enrollment data were provided by the Tennessee Department of Education, Office of Research. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth calculated and converted all data from district-level to county-level.
