Definitions: The percent is based on the number of resident mothers receiving less than adequate prenatal care divided by the total resident live births. An * indicates the count is less than 6, so no percent is listed.

Footnotes: These data are based on three-year averages, with the latest year listed. Rates are not calculated for counties with occurrences that total less than six over the three-year period. NA represents the uncalculated rates.

Definitions: These numbers reflect the rate per 1,000 children, ages 0-17, of children who are confirmed as victims of abuse or neglect after an investigation. (These numbers reflect all categories where alleged abuse or neglect has been confirmed.) The operational definitions for child abuse and neglect are found in the Services Manual of the Family Independence Agency.
