Definitions: Low birthweight counts live births weighing under 5 1/2 pounds (2500 grams), with the percent of low weight births measuring the portion of all live births which weigh less than 5 1/2 pounds (2,500 grams) . Very low birthweight counts live births weighing under 3 pounds, 5 ounces (1,500 grams), with the percent of very low weight births measuring the portion of all live births which weigh less than 3 pound, 5 ounces (1,500 grams). The data is reported by place of mother's residence, not place of birth.

Data Source: Birth data from Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH).

Footnotes: The state total may vary from the total of all counties since the state total may include births for which the county of residence was unknown or may vary due to rounding.  Numbers and rates may differ from an earlier Oklahoma Kids Count Factbook due to the availability of updated or corrected data. The 2009 and 2010 birthweight data is preliminary and subject to change. The rate for 2010 was calculated using 2009 population estimates since the 2010 data is not yet available.
