Definitions: Recidivism means re-referral or re-arrest within one year after a youth is released from a committed residential placement. For example, all released youth from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007 would fall under released category in FY 2007. One year recidivism is tracked for 365 days from the date of release for each youth. So those who were released on July 1, 2006 would be tracked 365 days from July 1, 2006 which would be any time from July 1, 2006 till June 30, 2007. Those who were released on June 30th would be tracked again for 365 days, which is till June 30, 2008. Therefore the duration for re-arrest would be from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2008. Each youth is tracked for one year under one year after recidivism and 2 years under 2 years after recidivism.
