Definitions: 8th grade LEAP initial test-takers meeting the promotional standard after the spring test and the spring and summer tests.

Data Source: Louisiana Department of Education, Division of Planning, Analysis, and Information Resources

Footnotes: The Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (LEAP) is a "high-stakes" test that is administered to fourth and eighth grade public school students each spring. In order to be promoted to the next grade, students are required to score Basic or above on either the English Language Arts or the Mathematics test and Approaching Basic or above on the other. Students that do not meet the promotional standard in the spring test are allowed to take the LEAP test again during the summer. Note that prior to SY 2005, the promotional standard for eighth grade students was Approaching Basic in both English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Data for City of Baker, Central Community and City of Zachary districts are reflected in East Baton Rouge's data. Data for the City of Monroe district are reflected in Ouachita's data. Data for Recovery School District schools in Orleans Parish are reflected in Orleans parish. Data for Lab schools, Marine Institutes, and all other charter schools are NOT reflected in any parish's data. The data for these schools are, however, reflected in the statewide total.

For SY 2005, the requirement that school districts use the LEAP test for promotional purposes was waived due to the disruptions caused by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.

ND (no data):  LEAP test results for St. Helena parish were not reported for the 2009-2010 school year.
