Kids Count Data Center

Definitions: The number of child hospital discharges of mental health diagnoses per 1,000 children under age 18. Mental health diagnoses range from Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRG) 425-432 which also cover all the medical DRGs in the Major Diagnostic Categories 19 – Mental Diseases and Disorders. Data are provided by the Kansas Hospital Association and Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Population estimates data are from the U.S. Census Bureau. The current rate represents the number of discharges per 1,000 children for federal fiscal year 2007. The trend represents the average annual change in discharges per 1,000 children for federal fiscal years 2003-2007.
