Children in Poverty is the percentage of "related" and "unrelated" children under age 18 who live in families with incomes below the poverty threshold as defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.

Poverty is related to every KIDS COUNT indicator. Children in poverty are more likely than their higher-income peers to have health and behavioral problems, experience difficulty in school, become teen parents, and be involved in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
