The 2005-2007 ACS three-year estimates are based on data collected between January 2005 and December 2007. They are published only for selected geographic areas with populations of 20,000 or greater, represent the average characteristics over the 3-year period of time, have larger sample size than the one-year estimates, and are less current than the one-year estimates. By averaging data across the 3 years, estimates can be produced for smaller geographic units like counties and cities with populations too small to be estimated for the the annual survey.
