Definitions: This is the number of live births to mothers ages 15-19 per 1,000 females ages 15-19.  The rate is based on three years of data.

Data Source: WV Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau of Public Health, Office of Epidemiology and Health Promotion, Health Statistics Center.
National data is based on one year and is from the CDC.

Footnotes: At a state and county level, this indicator is a rate per 1,000 females ages 15-19 based on a three-year average.  The rate is calculated as 1,000 times the number of teen births to mothers ages 15-19 divided by the total number of females ages 15-19.  The base population for this indicator is the total number of females ages 15-19.  National data is calculated in the same manner but is based on only one year.
