Definitions: The percent of change over time measures the increase or decrease in the rate of births to teens in each age group (ages 15-17, ages 18 & 19, and ages 15-19) during the year selected when compared to the base year (2006).  The rate of births to teens in each age group presents the average annual number of births for every 1,000 girls in the age group in each area.  A positive percent of change indicates an improved rate between the periods compared. A negative percent of change indicates a worsening rate between the periods compared.

Data Source: Birth data provided by Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). Population data uses U.S. Census Population Estimates updated to estimate population of female teens by age group for each time period.

Footnotes: The 2009 and 2010 birth data is preliminary and subject to change. The rate for 2010 was calculated using 2009 population estimates since the 2010 data is not yet available.
LAST UPDATED OR EDITED: December 12, 2011.
