Data Source: U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 3-Year Estimates
The ACS three-year estimates are published only for selected geographic areas with populations of 20,000 or greater, represent the average characteristics over the 3-year period of time, have larger sample size than the one-year estimates, and are less current than the one-year estimates.  By averaging data across the 3 years, estimates can be produced for smaller geographic units like counties and cities with populations too small to be estimated for the the annual survey.
