Definitions:

Number of Children with Indicated Reports of Abuse and Neglect is all cases where the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services found evidence that abuse or neglect occurred. The number of indicated cases is smaller than the number of reported cases, which may eventually prove to be unfounded. Data are for unduplicated counts, meaning that a child was only counted once during the year, regardless of the number of times a report was made.
