Definitions: The Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI) is a benchmark reading test that is administered three times per school year to all Idaho public school students in grades K-3. This data is from the fall session of each school year. So for example, the year 2000 data was collected during fall 2000 of the 2000-2001 school year. The Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI), as a result of Idaho Code enacted in 1999, is a benchmark reading test that is administered three times per school year to all Idaho public school students in grades K-3. IRI data is reported online to the SDE at the end of each testing session. Districts must provide 40 hours of reading intervention for those scoring below grade level on the test. Beginning spring 2004, Idaho Code identified statewide reading goals that each grade level within each school must achieve. More...
