Footnotes: Rates based on fewer than 20 events may be statistically unreliable and should be interpreted with caution.
For NM, the rate numerator is total infant deaths for 2002-2006, divided by 5; the denominator is the number of 2004 live births. Due to rounding, average numbers may not add to the total or may appear as 0.

Note: Maps use the natural break classification method, which reflects patterns in the data by dividing the map into naturally occurring groups. Using statistical tools, this method determines cut-off points for each group by identifying large gaps in data values.
