Definitions:

Public Preschool Enrollment is the number/percent of four year old children enrolled in a four year old program offered through a school administrative unit.  Children must be four years of age by October 15 of the entering school year in order to be eligible for a public preschool program.

Data Source:

Maine Department of Education, Four Year Old Program

Footnotes: Data represent school years. Year indicated is the fall term of the year, such that "2010" data represent 2010-2011 school year.

Note: Maps use the natural break classification method, which reflects patterns in the data by dividing the map into naturally occurring groups. Using statistical tools, this method determines cut-off points for each group by identifying large gaps in data values.
